Mod Reeses Nails

I wanted to do some warm tones for fall, and to try a little 70s color scheme. For this one, I did a base of Finger Paints Catwalk Queen. The brown is China Glaze Mahogany Magic from the Hunger Games collection. I used scotch tape to make the rounded-edged square design. It came out kinda cool, I think. The color scheme reminds me of Reeses Peanut Butter cups and also my parent's couch from the 70s. Not the most appealing combination of images, but there it is.

Fall Challenge: Day Four, Cozy and Warm

I interpreted "Cozy and Warm" with argyle. Argyle socks, argyle sweaters, definitely cozy and warm :) I did different color schemes on each hand over a base of American Apparel Poppy. (And in case you're curious, I did not leave the house with a different argyle manicures on each hand! I did this for the blog, then took it off.) I used scotch tape for the background squares, and I freehanded the lines. The freehanded lines looks super-sloppy up close, but they looked all right from a distance. I haven't done much freehand, because I like the crisper lines that come from taping and stamping, but I think this is a respectable effort.

Fall Challenge: Day 1, Metallic

You know, I'm not really an animal print girl, but I like this manicure. I'm a fan of monochromes, and I like the subtly of this. The base color is China Glaze Kalahari Kiss. The stamping color is Sally Hansen  Gilty Pleasure, and the plate is Mash 43. Below are photos of the manicure in sun and shade.

Fall Challenge: Day Three, Fall Gradient

I'm doing the Fall Challenge out of order. Day one is day three. Logical? More or less. Welcome to my brain. Really, I was just feeling the gradient more than the metallic, so I thought why be hampered with numerical order? It's my blog, and I can flout order if I so choose. Anyway, I love the way it turned out! The base polish is Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Bronze Ablaze. I sponged on Wet n' Wild black with a piece of a makeup wedge. I like that the black almost looks like a variation in the color of the base polish rather than a gradient.

Below: A lovely process photo. I use painter's tape, although many bloggers like to use scotch tape. I find that painter's tape is easier to remove. I do cuticle clean-up with a brush dipped in acetone.

Here are the polishes I used: Wet n' Wild Black and Sally Hansen Bronze Ablaze.

Fall Nail Art Challenge

I came up with this fun, seven-day nail art challenge for the fall. If you have a nail blog and want to do this, too, please let me know, and I'll link you! I'm going to stretch this out over the coming weeks, but you can do them at whatever speed you want! Also, readers who don't have a blog, if you do any of these and take photos, feel free to send me pix for posting!

Sinful Colors Cross My Heart Review and Nail Art

Red: Sinful Colors Cross My Heart (swatch below)
Blue: Sinful Colors Oceanside
Black: Kiss nail striper
White: Kiss nail striper
Tan: Revlon Color Stay in Bare Bones

I got the idea and color scheme for this from this blog. I used tape to make the stripes, where the original is done freehand.

Below: Sinful Colors Cross My Heart by itself. CMH is a technicolor-red (almost orange-red, although that's not as obvious in this pic). This polish is now among my favorite pin-up reds. So pretty!
