The End (for now?)

Dear Tin Roof Nails Readers,

I'm taking a break from nail blogging. I might resume the blog sometime in the future, but for now, I'm focusing my free time on other things. I had a lot of fun doing the blog, thanks for reading, and please enjoy the posts in the archives. :)

Thanks!

Two Ugly Christmas Manicures

I love the garishness of Christmas. It's a lot of fun. In my opinion, these are the ugly Christmas Sweaters of manicures. Especially the Christmas trees on the bottom...yikes! For the red one, I used China Glaze Poinsettia and added green metallic balls. For the green one, I used China Glaze Holly-day with an overlay of Sally Hansen Glass Slipper and enormous pieces of Christmas Tree-shaped holographic glitter.

Holiday Manicure

Here's a holiday manicure for you. For this one, I did a base color of green (Zoya Edyta) on my first, middle, and pinky fingers, and a base color of burgundy (OPI Royal Raja Ruby) on my ring finger and thumb. For the stamping polish, I used China Glaze 2030. The stamp on my first finger is from Bundle Monster (?), on my middle finger is Cheeky plate 10, on my ring finger, Cheeky plate 24, and on my pinky, Cheeky plate 6, and on my thumb, Mash plate 73. I also added a yellow rhinestone heart to go with the gold stamp polish. It's kinda loud, but I like it.

Antidote to a Bad Day: Hair and Nails

My friend came to visit me, and I gave her a manicure in gold and black (she is a singer, so she chose the music-themed stamp). I also gave her a braid crown hairstyle (pics below). Good times.

Black polish is Sally Hansen Black Out
Gold is China Glaze 2030
The stamp is Mash 73

Twisty Braid Crown and Bun

My friend has very fine hair, so I used dry shampoo on it to make it easier to work with. I used Bastiste, which I like a lot. Directions: Part hair. Make one-sided french braids on each side. You do this by instead of adding hair from the right and left sides of the braid, only add from one side (This probably has a name, but I don't know what it is, and a google-search didn't yield anything.). Tie off ends with elastics. Twist braids into bun so that the bottom of the "crown" is visible. Pin. Viola! :)

Distressed Dark Fall Manicure

I love this manicure. I used this technique from Chalkboard Nails and found it very easy and cool-looking. This is good nail art for when you don't have a lot of patience to make it perfect because mistakes can be incorporated into the design. The polishes I used were Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Uptempo Plum (that's the eggplant colored base), Wet n' Wild Chrome Steel in the Spotlight, China Glaze Elephant Walk (that's the grey creme).

Last year, I did punk nails which are similar, but this technique is much quicker and easier.

Fall Leaves Manicure

I kind of love this manicure. I got my fall nail plate from Vivid Lacquer (number 013) and I love it! I love autumn leaves, and this plate has four kinds, one with a photo-negative look, very modern and cool. I liked the color scheme in this pedicure, so I totally copied it. I left out the 3-D elements, because I prefer the smoothness of a simple manicure, but I tried to copy the generally feeling of it.

Thumb and middle finger base color: Fingerpaints Catwalk Queen
Pointer and Pinker: China Glaze I Herd That
Ring: Sally Hansen Black Out
Stamping Plates: Thumb and ring fingers, Vivid Lacquer 013
Middle finger, Wintstonia 119

Geometric Nails

Hi everyone! I've been wanting to do crazier nails lately, and to use some of my stamping plates (it's been a while-- the summer was all about gradients), so I have this geometric manicure.  The polishes I used are: OPI Moon Over Mumbai (grey), Sally Hansen Black Out (black), Sinful Color Thimbleberry (coral). Stamping plates: Cheeky 13, Mash 45.
